Super Serious Artist Statement
I make paintings that are focused on visually engaging the viewer more so than intellectually. I pull images and inspiration from all over the place, and the work reflects that in its often random nature. I am often playing around with different images, be them of animals, food items, people, or random objects, as well as shapes and colors that I find interesting, and making sense of them in the overall composition. In doing so, making a painting to me becomes like composing music. All the notes compliment each other, and there is a rise and fall that the listener is taken through as the song progresses. As a whole, every part works together, and plays off one another to bring life to the piece.
